Have 86 astro van. trans. dwn shifted by itself and stopped pulling. shut off wait 30 sec works for 1 -2 mi.?

after you shut it off and wait it is strong . if you let it idle for a couple of min. won't even go into gear until you shut of again for 30-60 sec.
