I'm sorry but you are selective in acceptance of history. The early followers of Christ and his teachings did not belong to any organized religion. The Catholic Church was started by The Roman Emperor Constantine (the first pope) around 300 AD. He invented the Catholic religion by merging christian beliefs with pagan beliefs. God is not a religion. Christ is not religious. Neither of them came to start a new religion. In fact, they came to destroy religion. Religion, including Catholicism, is the problem.
